At GCW Highest in the Roo🅘m 3, Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance, attacking Matt Cardona and helping Effy defea🙈t him.
Jericho would attack Effy after the match was ov🀅er.
The angleꦏ was done to help promote Jericho vs. Cardona, which takes place at ROH Final Battle on December 20.
"Matt helped put that together," Tony Khan told during the ROH Final Battle media call when asked about Jericho's appearance. "Matt asked me about it, and obviously, I was happy to send Chris to promote the match that is happening on ROH as part of the double main event. It's something we spent weeks building up on ROH and AEW TV, which is a nice thing. There is a lot of matches and potential things that could happen with Matt being the challenger and potentially being the ROH World Champion going forward. That's something to keep an eye on. With Matt appearing there, and this being a title match, it made sense to do something to promote. It's very much along the lines of things we've done with other matches along the ways over the years."
AEW and GCW have worked together in the past, notably with Nick Gage appearing on AEW Dynamite and꧃ Jon Moxley wrestling for GCW.
Ricky Starks was scheduled to face Cardona at GCW Highest in the Room 3, but he was pulled fro🌳m the appearance by AEW after comments made by Effy about Tony Khan and Shad Khan.
