Former WWE êŠwrestler Serena Deeb says the women'sêŠ locker room is stronger than ever.Â
Serena Deeb competed in the first and second round of the Mae Young Classic. She has also been wrestling in and out of the WWE for over a decade. She held championships in WWE's developmental program and appeared on Smackdown as part of CM Punk's Straight Edge Society. In an interview on WWE's YouTube, Deeb recently spoke about her experience cܫoming back to WWE for the tournament and working with the athletes at the WWE Performance center. She said the atmosphere at the performance center facility is unique.
"The ambiance here and the energy here is just incredible. I've been around a lot of different environments over the years and there's nothing like this," said Deeb.Â
The veteran also acted as a guest-coach while she was at the performance center. Deeb said during her time with the athletes she saw a strong female roster.Â
"I've been around wrestling since 2005 and I have never seen a women's locker room this powerful. The future is in very good hands. There's something really special going on here," said Deeb.Â
Helping with coaching was a joy according to Deeb. She said she comes from a "lineage" of teachers and explained the process felt natural to her. In the video of the interview above, Deeb was seen instructing Taynara Conti in the ring with Ron Simmons. Before the Mae Young Classic, Deeb had not wrestled since 2015 and was retired.Â
