WWE has their first ever United Kingdom Champio♛n and he's only 19 years old.
Tyler Bate, a huge crowd favorite throughout the tournament, defea🐼ted Pete Dunne by pinfall in the finals to become UK Champion after defeating Wolfgang in the Semi Finals and Jordan Devlin in the Quarterfinals.
Dunne had been positioned as the only true heel in the tournament after attacking his Quarterfinal opponent's Sam Gradwell at the end of the night last night, damaging Gradwell's back. Dunne took adv🅰antage of Gradwell's injuries to defeat him, then bested former TNA X-Division standout Mark Andrews in the Semi-Finals.
After Bate defeated Wolfgang, Dunne attacked him and threw him shoulder-first into the ringpo෴st, causing a kayfabe partial separation to the AC joint of Bate's left shoulder, an injur🦩y that was played up through out the tournament finals match.
Here is how Fi🧔ghtful's Ryan Cook de𒐪scribed the end of the match in his Live Coverage:
Pete then locks in a triangle choke out of no where, but Tyler lifts Pete up and slams him down. Pete rolls out of the rin♏g to recover then Tyler hits a corkscrew moonsault over the top rope. Tyler rolls Pete back into the ring and hits a 450 splash for a very close 2 count then Pete takes his mouth guard out and hits The Bitter End for a very close 2 count of his own. Pete then puts a Kimuraꦕ on Tyler, then transitions into a body scissor Kimura before Tyler counters into a brainbuster for a very close 2 count. They exchange strikes then Tyler hits a rolling front kick before hitting the Tyler Driver 97 for the pin and the win.
Bate was presented with the UK Championship belt in♔ the ring by Triple H and William Regal. Finn Balor and Fit Finlay were also in the ring. Afterwards, Bate celebrated in the ring to the adulation of the British fans.
