Montez Ford is glad to be an🀅 example of a wrestler succeeding without an𒈔 independent wrestling background.
Ford was signed to WWE in 2015, and by 2016 he had forme🥀d The Street Profits along with Angelo Dawkins. In the eight years since, the pair have gone on to win several championships across each brand of WWE. There has also long been calls for a Montez Ford singles run in WWE.
While speaking on , Ford spoke about breaking the mold of a pro wrestler becoming successful without a bacꦆkground on the independent wrestling circuits.
"It is, man, and I'm glad I'm one of the examples to have that point proven wrong. I come from a military athletic background. I watched wrestling growing up, but I never, like, never did anything independent-wise. I never did independent scenes. So, I'm glad I'm one of the examples of breaking a mold of, like, hey, you don't have to have, like, a wrestling background to become or be successful as a sports entertainer. So, very glad i'm at the forefront of that as well."
Ford most recently competed on Friday's edition of SmackDo♏wn𓂃 as The Street Profits challenged The Motor City Machine Guns for the WWE Tag Team Championships.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Ford spoke about going from a fan to a co-worker with some of his idols in the wrestling industry. You can read more about that here.
