Kušrt Angle discusses his biopic that is in development.
Kurt Angle is one of the most prolific wrestlers of the 2000s and now that he is five years removed from professional wrestling retirement, he is looking back on his life and crafting a twšo-part biopic to tell his story. The first movie will tell the story of his Olympic Journey leading up to his gold medal victory in 1996. The second movie šwill focus on his professional wrestling career.
, Angle revealed that the project has found itās directors in Eshom Nelms and Ian Nelms and revealed that the film will have Rocky-esque vibes with a touch of "The Iron Claw" film from 2023 that was based around the life of the Von Erich wrestling dynasty.
āActually, I donāt know if you know this, but I have a movie about my life story coming out. John (ber) is helping me out with it a little bit. He got me the directors, Ian and Eshom Nelms. These directors are incredibly talented, they were actually amateur wrestlers, so they understand my sport. They directed movies like āFatmanā starring Mel Gibson and āRed Right Handā starring Orlando Bloom. Theyāve done a lot of incredible films. My movie is going to be about a kid from the streets of Pittsburgh that overcomes adversities, including a broken neck, and ends up winning an Olympic gold medal. Itās only about my Olympic history, itās my Olympic story. Itās gonna have a Rocky-type of feel to it with a touch of The Fighter and Iron Claw. My directors are so talented, so for the first time, Iām gonna be on the opposite side of the camera and Iām gonna be watching these guys do their magic. I canāt wait to bring this to the world, I think itās going to be a great story. The idea is to have two different movies, which is kind of ironic. The first oneās about my Olympic story and the second oneās about my professional wrestling career. Weāre going the first one first, seeing how that pans out, and then weāre gonna do the other one. There was just too much content to put both of them together, so we decided to separate the two and do the first movie first, and the second movie second in the future.ā
Kurt Angšle goes on to say that the script for the movie is nearlš“y complete and the casting should begin within the next few months.
āWe have the script almost written, next are the investors which we should get fairly easily. Then, weāre gonna do the cast. Weāll probably start picking a cast in the next two or three months. Iām really excited about that, I have a few people in mind. Iām not gonna to tell you who, Iām not going to ruin the surprise yet, but we have a lot of people that we want to cast for my family members and also myself. There are going to be a lot of big names that weāre going for, so, it should be really cool.ā
