Bruce Prichard may ꦛbe best known for his behind-the-scenes work with WWE and his ... podcast, but Prichard made wa🐓ves when he had a brief run with Impact Wrestling last year.
Fightful spoke with Prichard and discuss at length about ﷽returning to Impact Wrestling on a recent episode of . Prichardꦇ returned to Impact Wrestling for a short bit, but his schedule prevented to spend a significant amount of time on Impact television.
"Jeff Jarrett and I talked about from the very beginning and looked at it as a 'let's see how it goes' and if Jeff and I are still in charge, then we probably would have been doing some stuff. But at the same time, my schedule, my live events schedule, everything kind of started to conflict a little bit with the television tapings schedule Impact had. It kind of worked out for the best for everyone. I did my last appearance for them in August and I was going to miss a lot of tapings since then so the convenience of firing me on air was right there and let's go for it and I can move on my merry way," Prichard said.
Prichard did work for Impact when it was calledไ TNA in the early 2010s and within the first couple of months of doing his "Something to Wrestle With" podcast, he did a couple of shows talking about his time in TNA. When he came back to the company in 2017, Prichard said he was "shocked" at the overall warm reception he had from members of the locker room.
"Absolutely positive on all fronts. I was shocked. I was happy to learn how many people were listening to the podcast so I was happy about that. One of the reasons they even asked me back was because of the success of the podcast so that helped. Coming back in, a portion of my audience would come back and see what I was doing on TV. I was welcomed back with open arms and it was probably the easiest gig I've ever had in the wrestling business because my only responsibility was for my performance," Prichard said.
Regarding his latest work with Impact Wrestling in 2017 where he was an authority figure with the promotion until being fired by a returning Jim Cornette, Prichard said he only came back as a television character. Although he didn't really had any other responsib𒉰ilities, he would share any advice and give his thoughts whenever he was asked to.
"I was strictly an on-air character. I did go to some of the production meetings from time to time. They would ask for my opinion sometimes of which I was happy to give. For the most part, it was an on-air character. They gave me a script so to speak of, an idea of what they wanted me to say but I had freedom to interpret it how I wanted to interpret it and take it from there. In that regard, I would just show up when it's time to get to work and then I would disappear and go on about with my day job, if you will. It was easy in that regard and a lot of fun being an on-air talent without having to worry about contracts and anything else," Prichard said.
Prichard will make his return to WWE television on the RAW 25 anniversary show. RAW 25 will take place at both the Barclays Center and the Manhattan Center, the site of the very first episode of Monday Night RAW on January 22.
