Stevie Ray reveals the oąµ²riginsĀ of the nameĀ 'Harlem Heaāt'.
Former WCW star Stevie Ray was a part of one of the most recognizableĀ and decoratedĀ tag teams in the history of World Championship WrestlingĀ along with his brother Booker T. While the duo were together theyĀ captured the WCW World Tag Team Championships ten times. Fightful's had the opportunityĀ to speak with Stevie Ray about a wide varietyĀ of topics, and Stevie Ray even doveĀ into how he and Booker T were theĀ onesĀ whoĀ pitched the name 'Harlem Heat' but creative and WWE Hall Of Famer Dusty Rhodes had other names set for the duo.
"No, actually we pitched it. Actually we pitched it but they wanted want toā¦ I remember somebody wanted to to call us āChicago Heatā, and I think it might have been Dusty Rhodes, and a few other names came up but we were like āNo, we like HarlemĀ Heatā." He continued. āMe and my brother [were] pretty stern about trying to have as much control of our carers as possible, and that wasĀ one of the things we areā¦ you know, I canāt remember how. When they were coming up with names for us, me and my brotherĀ we were always pitched from 110thĀ Street in Harlem, so we were like āNo, we like Harlem Heatā. And I guess they seen we were kind of stern on that were like āOkay, weāll go with Harlem Heat then'. Thatās how it pretty much happened."
