Bret Hart: I Wish Goldberg Heard Me A Bit Better When I Said "Don't Hurt Me"

Bret Hart discusses ꧒the kick that effectively ended his career.

At WCW Starrcade 1999, Goldberg caught Bret Hart with a thrust kick that nearly took Hart's head off. The kick left Hart with a concussion and post-concussion ♍syndrome. Speaking at a neuroscience symposium sponsored by OhioHealth at the Greater Columbus Convention Center () earlier this month, Hart discussed the kick that effectively ended his career.

"One of the last things I said to Bill before I walked out to the ring was, ‘Don’t hurt me. I wish he heard me a little better," said Bret.

Hart would go on to wrestl🔯e a handful of matches over the n༺ext month, working his final match with WCW on Jan. 10, 2000. In a house show match with Sid, Bret was slammed onto the mat, where he suffered another concussion.

"I was mad for being there and mad at myself for being in this situation. I remember when I hit the ground, I could see a million stars."

He would g⛄o on to vacate the WCW World Heavyweight Title due to his injuries, and while he would make more appearances on WCW television, he never got back into the ring. He would return to the ring in 2010, working no🔯n-physical matches with Vince McMahon and The Miz while also doing tag team matches with The Hart Dynasty.

WWE recently showed their support for Hart, asking fans to nominate him for Canada's Walk of Fa🃏me.
