Tyron Woodley Says GSP Faked Injury

MMA

UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley hasnā€™t been seen in the Octagon since defeating Damien Maia by decision at UFC 214.

The champion has an injured shoulder and instead of delaying the inevitable surgery, hasĀ opted to go under the knife as he told Fightful earlier this month.

Conor McGregor Found Civilly Liable In Sexual Assault Case, Says He Will Appeal The Decision

ā€œIā€™m going to go ahead and get this shoulder repaired,ā€ Woodley saidĀ toĀ . ā€œIā€™ve been saying, ā€˜You know what, I donā€™t want to get it cut on, I donā€™t want to get it repaired.ā€™ But if thereā€™s no fight that really makes a ton of sense for me to take the risk, to not be 100 percent with my shoulder, then Iā€™m going to go ahead and have it repaired. Theyā€™re not going to do a full orthopedic rehabilitation, but theyā€™re going to do a scope and theyā€™re going to anchor down some sides. Then Iā€™m going to get some PRP (platelet-rich plasma), some stem cells. Iā€™m doing everything.ā€

One of the reasons Woodley was putting off the surgery in the first place ąµ²was to try and get a potential super fight against former UFC Middleweight Champion Georges St. Pierre.

GSP is now āœ±sitting on the shelf while battling ulceratšŸŒ³ive colitis, but its an injury that Woodley thinks the former championšŸ’® is faking.

ā€œI want to fight Georges, man. I offered to go up and fight him at middleweight and he faked some backside injury, and now heā€™s vacating the belt. So, I donā€™t know, man. Iā€™m going to get my shoulder fixed and Iā€™m going to watch the game be as ridiculous as itā€™s been and see whoā€™s next,ā€ says Woodley.

There is no time frame set yet as when when the champion and his soon to be surgically repšŸ’aired shoulder will step back išŸŒ„nto the Octagon.
