Former UFC Light Heavyweight Chamꌥpions Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell had one of the greatest rivalries in UFC history.
Ortiz had previously shot down đa third opportunity to fight his longtime rival, but the former champion has appđŻarently had a change of heart and has spoken to theꌿ UFC about it.
âI have a lot of interest level,â said Ortiz to . âActually, on New Yearâs, I asked the matchmakers for the UFC if theyâd ever want to do a Chuck Liddell-Tito Ortiz III and he kind of looked at me and laughed and said, âChuck couldnât pass to fight again. Heâs been knocked out, unconscious, five times.â I guarantee you the doctor wonât give him a license.â
Liddell won both of the previous encounters with Ortiz, earning those victories atę§ UFC 47 and UFC 66.
The Huŕą ntington Beach Bad Boy says he would even take the âąfight to help out Liddell, who is apparently going through some issues.
âItâs up to them,â said Ortiz. âI thought of it just because I was pumped because of the UFC in general, being back in the house, but I donât know. I would like another go at it. I left on a high stool of choking Chael within two-and-a-half minutes. My bodyâs fine. I know Chuck Liddellâs been knocked out unconscious to the point where they had to give him the smelling salts to make him feel better but heâs looking to be a paycheck. I understand it. I have other businesses, and itâs not a hurry for me to fight. I donât want to fight, I donât need to fight, but if Chuck needs to, Iâll be a good friend like he was once and give him a payday.â
If the bout were to come together, it would be Ortizâs first fight since Bellator 170 and Liddellâs first fight since UFC 115.
