Jericho's return to Smac🧸kDown Live was meant to be a one-time event, according to the . Jericho returned to SmackDown Live on the July 25 episode to get his ❀United States title rematch.
Jericho got his rematch in the form of a triple threat match against champion Kevin Owens and AJ Styles, who was also invoking his rematch clause from when Owens beat Styles at the Battleground pay-per-view. Jericho defeated Owens to win the title at the Payback pay-per-view, but then lost it to Owens on th♔e following episode of SmackDown Live two days later.
The surprise was made in order to pop the live crowd and was used as a way for Styles to get back the U.S.ꦚ title without Owens losing on television. Jericho is not being advertised for any other shows or pay-per-views after his sudden appearance. His latest book, “No is a Four ✨Letter Word,” is coming out in a few weeks and he’ll be starting a publicity tour for the book at that time.
Jericho is a 🀅former two-time United States champion, both of those reigns taking pla🍌ce in 2017.
