Stephen Thompson headlined UFC Fight Night Liverpool, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Darren Till.
The welterweight star didn’t just suffer a defeat at the event, 🅺but Thompson also injured his knee duꩲring the fight.
“It was almost like this dude was trying to put me out,” Thompson said on . “He hit me in the knee and after that my movement was pretty much out the window. I was more focused on keeping my knee — it was just another thing to think about out there.”
Th𒈔ompson has had surgery on his knee before, it is unknown if the latest i🔥njury will require him to go under the knife again.
After the second round concluded, one major goal Thompson has what to keep his knee fro🧸m sustaining any more damage.
“It was more trying to keep my leg from collapsing than anything,” he said. “It just really felt unstable in that fifth round. I was trying to hit the guy hard, I really was. I just was unable to put myself in a situation to do so.”
Till became just the third fighter to hand Thompson a defeat in his professional MMA career, with the other two being UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley and Matt Brown.
