UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor made his professional boxing debušŸƒt this past August, suffering a tenth round TKOāœƒ loss to Floyd Mayweather.

Those nušŸ¤Ŗmbers make the McGregor vs. Mayweather pay-per-view the second most purchased combat sports event in PPV history. The only event to beat it was another MayweašŸŒ ther bout that took place in 2015 against Manny Pacquiao, which drew 4.6 million buys.

While it is now second place in combatąµ© sports pay-per-view history, a huge gap exists between the McGregor vs. Mayweather buy rate and the third place event on the list. Mayweather versus Oscar De La Hoya has the third highest buy rate in combat sports PPV history, drawing a total of 2.48 million buys.

Showtime, which produced the pay-per-view broadcast, earned an astounding $600 million in revenue from thešŸ“– super fight. The buy rate number could become much higher over time because only North American pay-per-view purchases were counted as parā›Žt of the 4.3 million buys, international locations that also showed the event were not counted in that number.

Mayweather has since retired after the super fight with McGregor, but recently stated that the UFC offāœ…ered him billions to come fight over in the ź¦‰Octagon. McGregor on the other hand has yet to announce his next move, having fought in bars recently instead ofā™Š the Octagon.
