“I learned a lot in that fight, but I also felt really ready for that fight. Sometimes things just happen, it was a weird arm bar. I know of a similar arm bar, just from a different set up. I kind of just went back and went over that, I didn’t really change a lot (after that fight) to be honest. I had a good camp for that fight and it was just one of those good things, I was going into that fight knowing Gillian’s ground game was that good. We trained on the Ultimate Fighter, we shared bunk beds. She was actually one of my better friends on the show, I knew that going into the fight that the only was I was gonna lose was if I got caught in something weird and funky. That’s what happened, I try not to be to hard on myself from that one and kind of just move on from it. I kind of knew that going into it, it was just one of those things where I kind of like knew that could happen and its what I happened. I jsut learn from it and move on,” says Whitmire in ౠan exclusive interview with Fight’s James Lynch.

Whitmire was a cast member on the aforementioned UFC Ultimate Fighter 26, losing in the quarterfinals of the reality show to Roxanne Modafferi.

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champio🌌n Miesha Tate just gave birth to a 😼baby girl and Whitmire has prov𝕴ided an update on how the brand new mother is doing.

“I think she’s doing good, I haven’t actually seen the baby yet…so I’m pretty excited about that. I was in Phoenix (last Saturday) and I missed her, I’m excited to see her. She’s actually doing good and she’s happy with her life, just really happy with life after fighting,” says Whitmire.

UFC 226 takes place on Saturday,ꦚ July 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stip༺e Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
