UFC President Dana White has attended hundreds upon hundreds of UFC events of the years, his most recent was this past weekendâs UFC 208 event in Brooklyn, New York.
White wasnât a fan of the cađ„rd, whicà”Čh saw eight of the nine fights end via decision.
âNot one of our better events,â White said on FOX Sports 1âs post-fight show. âI always feel like that if we come into a place, youâre going to have at least a few good fights that are going to get you up out of your seat. We didnât have any of those. Well, I shouldnât say that. The (Dustin) Poirier-(Jim) Miller fight was awesome and obviously the âFight of the Night.â Those guys gave it everything they had, and props to them, they put on a great performance tonight.â
The main event of UFC 208 saw Germaine De Randamie defeat former UFC Womenâs Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm to becoâme the first ever UFC Womenâs Featherweight Champion. White, while happy for De Randamie, isêŠnât too happy with referee Todd Andersonâs performance in that fight.
âI feel like the ref from New York shouldnât be reffing a main event fight,â White said. âThey donât have enough experience. He should not have been in there. But again, we donât make those decisions. The commission does. That was a bad decision by them, and if that guy takes a point for hitting after the bell, itâs a draw. The only possible way this night could be any sh*ttier. Everybody was blowing me up on the phone, âwhatâs wrong with this ref?â and âwhatâs wrong with this ref?ââ White added. âWhatâs wrong with this ref is he doesnât have big fight experience like that. None of these guys do in this state yet, and they shouldâve had one of the experienced MMA refs in there reffing that main event.â
Whitđłe can be seen next at UFC Fight Night 105, which will be taking place on Sunday, February 19.
