The ongoing feud between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather may not result in one of combat sports' biggest fantasy fights, but Mc𝐆Gregor's agen꧅t said the UFC Champion is very interested in it.
Audie Attar, McGregor's agent, recently appeared on ESPN's podcast and said he didn't expect the feud between the tw💫o to gain the kind of traction it did at f🉐irst, but now McGregor wants to make the dream fight happen.
"Look, it wasn't something we started, right?" Attar said. "It was something Floyd started and Conor responded in kind on social media. It's obviously built up public interest. Part of that may have been Floyd testing waters - I really don't know what his motives are. All I can tell you is we are very interested if it's serious. Ultimately, I think we have to see if it's real or not. That's what it comes down to."
Attar has a theory about why any potential fight between the two combat sports stars has yet to be made official. McGregor's recent win against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 may h🌃ave impressed Mayweather though, according to Attar.
"Floyd may have been waiting to see if Conor is the real deal and I think how he handled his first adversity with Nate [Diaz], beating Nate the second time at 170 [pounds], dominating the lightweight champion, the first to hold two belts - I think he's shown he's for real," Attar said.
Mayweather has already been linked to a possible rematch with current boxing world welterweight champion Manny Pacquiꦚao, but has remained adamဣant that he is retired. Mayweather last fought back in September 2015 against Andre Berto to finish with a perfect 49-0 record.
McGregor had been goading the former boxer for a while now, going off on TMZ and saying Ma𒉰yweather is "afraid of a real fi🉐ght."
