UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping was expected to fight formš¼er UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre later this year.
However, UFC President Dana White said that they are moving onš from that fight, but Bisping says nobody contacteź¦d himš to discuss things.
āHonestly, itās news to me. I havenāt heard anything about it. I reached out to Georges and he said he hasnāt heard anything officially either, and I still havenāt heard anything from the UFC or Dana White. I know that a lot of people are complaining about this potential delay with Georges, so weāll see what happens. So yeah, to clarify, as of right now, no official word from the UFC. I havenāt heard anything and Georges is still hoping for it, Iām still hoping for it. Iāll say this, I was offered the fight twice. I was offered the fight in October and it never materialized. I was offered the fight in January or February and it did materialize and we had a press conference and we shook hands and we stood there in Las Vegas and we talked a bit of shit. So okay, I havenāt had a bout agreement but that is the plan. That was the offer and I accepted and I kind of feel that once a deal is made, we should stick to it,ā Bisping said on Believe You Me.
Bisping is now expected to fight Yoel Romero later this year, the Cuban fighter is ranked š#1 in the miź¦ddleweight division.
There may be a hitch in that fight as well because Bisping claims heās injured and is willingļ·½ to wait for his injury to heal so he can fight GSP.
āItās a blessing in disguise because I canāt fight anytime soon. I canāt exercise, I canāt train. My knee is giving me many, many problems. It was doing it in Thailand, itās still getting no better. . . So long story short, what Iām getting at is Iām not going to be ready to fight anytime soon so again, thatās another reason why this plays into the perfect scenario for me,ā says Bisping.
When Bisping finally does make his way bš§øack into the Octagon, it is going to be the second time he has defended the middleweight strap.
