After picking up a win over UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a boxing ring, Mayweath🥂er could be looking to ta𓆏ckle more UFC fighters in the octagon.
UFC President Dana White told that the UFC and Mayweather are negotiating a deal that would allow the five-division boxing world champion to fight in the UFC. White said such an event happening isn’t all that strange considering how unlikely the concept of McGregor fighting Mayweather in a boxing ma🦂tch was until it became a reality this past August.
"We're talking to Floyd about doing a UFC deal. It's real. He was talking about [boxing] Conor McGregor. Was that real? Have you heard Floyd talk about many things that aren't real? He usually tips his hand when he's in the media and then that s--- ends up happening. We're interested in doing something with Floyd. Everything is a realistic possibility. Mayweather vs. McGregor f---ing happened. Anything is possible," White said.
Mayweather recently made headlines claiming that the company called him not too long ago about a potential run at MMA. During a recent live video chat on Fight Hype, Mayweather said he could make a billion dollars only fighting a few times in the UFC.
“You know they (the UFC) just called me not too long ago and asked me to come back, if I wanted to, I can come back to the UFC and go fight in the Octagon. I could go do a three to four fight deal in the Octagon and make a billion dollars,” Mayweather said.
Mayweather defeated McGregor via 10th-round TKO on August 26, picking up his 50th career win as a pro boxer. McGregor recently anno𓂃unced that his next fight would be in MMA and recently started training for his return fight in the UFC. The Mayweather vs. McGregor pay-per-view recently did about 4.3 million buys ⛎in North America, the second-highest buyrate for a boxing event in history behind Mayweather's 2015 win over Manny Pacquiao.
This wouldn’t be the first time a boxing champion crosses over to the UFC for a fight. Back i🐬n 2010, former IBF super middleweight and cruiser𝓡weight champion James Toney fought Randy Couture at UFC 118, losing to the MMA legend via first-round submission.
