Welterweight fighter Colby Covington has come under fire recently for calling Bꦺrazilians “filthy animals” after his win over Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo.
The fighter’s dislike of the countries citizens isn’t j🦄ust staying in Brazil, it also extends to his Brazili💫an teammates at American Top Team (ATT).
“I don’t really care about Amanda Nunes. I don’t really care about ‘Bigfoot’ Silva, you know,” Covington said on . “They’re not my friends. They never have been my friends, and they never will be my friends.”
According to the ATT website, a total of 24 fighters hail f♐rom Brazil that train alongside Covington and other ATT members.
Despite that number and the plethora of o🦹ther fighters from other countries that comprise ATT, the welterweight says they are not a team.
“It’s not a team. I’m not part of a team,” Covington said. “We’re not in a points-scoring system like basketball or football, where it’s a team. This is an individual sport. I do represent American Top Team, but I don’t represent any other fighters in that gym.”
Following the fighter’s comments in Brazil, the UFC has launched an investigation in✃to the situation. No statements have been issued on that investigation as this time.
