It was reported last month that Cena would be taking another hiatus from the ring, this time to film the second season of American Grit, the reality competition show he hosts on FOX.

A fixture at the top of the card for WWE for well more than a decade, Cena has worked a dramatically reduced schedule of wrestling events in the past couple of years -- partly due to outside commitments such as hosting American Grit, andꩲ partly due to injuries. He took a similar break last fall after dropping the U.S. Title to Alberto Del Rio at last October's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, then had shoulder surgery in January that kept him out of action until late May, when he began a rivalry with AJ Styles.

Cena did not appear on Smackdown last night, and was pinned by Styles Sunday at No Mercy in 🎃a triple threat match that also involved Dean Ambrose and saw Styles successfully retain his WWE World Heavyweight Title.

Cena is scheduled to appear at Survivor Series in some capacity -- possibly in the multi-man match that Daniel B🔯ryan and Shane McMahon challenged them to♚ at the event last night on Smackdown.

Survivꦗor Series takes place November 20 in Toronto, Ontario, Can꧂ada.
