For years, many figured Zack Sabre Jr. wouldn't be o༒n WWE's radar because of his untraditional pro wrestling physique. However, last year Sabre not only had interest, but passed on a deal.
Sabre rejected WWE's offer for a contract in 2016 after wrestling four WWE matches as a part of the Cruiserweight Classic. Much like Kota Ibushi,🎐 Sabre saw a more positiveꦅ future outside the WWE. When speaking to official website, Sabre expanded on his reasoning.
"It would be like asking a musician, 'Why didn't you sign with the biggest record label?' I'm just concerned with being the best professional wrestler I can be. It was really just a personal choice. This is my path," said Sabre.
Sabre not only left WWE in his rearview, but also the idea of being a cruiserweight -- or junior heavyweight as they're known in NJPW. When🍒 asked about his future in either of those divisions, Sabre didn't mince words.
"Oh yeah, I’m done with being a Junior Heavyweight. Really, my interest in focusing on being a Heavyweight is a stylistic one. Obviously I’m much smaller than a lot of the Heavyweights, but I think my style is much more in-tune with Heavyweight wrestling," said Sabre.
