Kerry Morton revealsź¦ that he's signed to the NWA until 2025.
Many fans and personalities around the world of wrestling has often named Kerry Morton š”as one of the brighest young stars in the industry. Kerry, šwho is the son of Ricky Morton, has been traveling around the world in recent years, competing in the NWA and various independent promotions.
Morton was chatting about his recent changeš to the NWA Heavyweight division when he noted that he is signed with the promotion until 2025.
āWhich he made a hell of a contribution with that. He made a great investment putting Kerry Morton on paper until 2025. With that being said, thereās a lot of companies that are chasing after this glory, but theyāre going to have to wait because I like the National Wrestling Alliance, I like where Iām at.ā
Morton was then aš sked to explain why he chose to re-sign with the promotion. In response, Morton noted that he wanted to stay with the promotion because it is in his blood. Furthermore, Morton also noted that he wants to do something his father never did, which is win the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
āFirst and foremost, you answered it. I have unfinished business in the National Wrestling Alliance. When my first free agency deal came up, I had a lot of offers and Iām very appreciative. But something deep down told me, Kerry Morton, you need to stay with the National Wrestling Alliance, this is in your blood. Iām not just doing this because of my father, Iām not. But his legacy was [legendary] in the NWA, especially in the Carolinas and the Louisiana territories with Bill Watts, which wasnāt necessarily NWA, but another establishment. With all of this coming together, I feel like this was my niche for right now, itās where I need to be. All of these companies, AEW and WWE and IMPACT Wrestling, which I was just in the locker room earlier today talking to Tommy Dreamer having a great conversation. Those are my friends and Iām so happy for everyoneās success, but I feel like right now, that is my strong suit and I want to make NWA better than it already is. Thatās tough to do, thatās a lot of stones and bricks to put on my back, but itās something Iāve done to myself. When the time came and I had the conversation with Pat Kenny and Billy Corgan and the office, [I said], Iām not saying I want to be the face necessarily, let me earn that. But let me do something here, let me come into my own. Hereās something that my father never did that I want to do, heās never won the ten pounds of gold. He technically won it one night, but thatās not necessarily in the books. That is a story for another time, but that is something, I have to finish that story. I have to finish that story of being the NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
Morton went on to say that he wants to be like the greats suāch as Harley Race, Ric Flair, and Sting.
