Jeff Jarrett highlights how special the crowd at WW🐼E Backlash was.
WWE held their first premium live event in France with WWE Backlash on May 4. The electric crowd was the talk of the wr🎀estling world, with many calling it the best audience for a wrestling show in recen🎀t memory.
Speaking on his podcꦐast, WW⛦E Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett was asked whether he watched WWE Backlash France and, if so, to share his thoughts.
“Social media, you get bits and pieces and highlights. You know how big of a fan I am of international professional wrestling, in that we, as in the United States, we’ve always been that export. Our show [is] made here in America, it goes out to Europe, it goes out all over the world, and has for years and years. So the folks, they’re not spoiled or jaded, or they don’t get to have it weekly in their town. What's the saying, familiarity breeds contempt? It just goes to show you, just the electricity and vibe, and I was telling this story earlier, it’s a buzz just about [how] the star of the weekend was the crowd. That is a European crowd. When you do autograph sessions at the big events, you’ll have folks from all kinds of countries. When they come to sign autographs, the Europeans will tell you, ‘Hey Jeff, I’m from,’ and then fill in the blank. All the European countries, those fans that are really, really into it, they are proud of where they’re from, and I think in a way, those folks took it to another level because they knew the whole world was watching. It’s like they were almost performing for the whole world," Jarrett said.
WWE Backlash broke WWE's record for the largest gate at any arena show. More information is available here.
