Jeff Jarrett discusses who could potentially launch their own wrestl♔ing company.
Jarrett has had a long career in wrestling, as he has been in the business for over three decades. Hd has had successful runs with WWE, WCW, and TNA, and he launched TNA with his father in 2002. Years later, Jarrett also created Global Force Wrestling before he returned to TNA. The legend signed with AEW in November 2022, and he works as an on-screen talent and th💯e Director of Business Development.
Speaking on t, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked whether he could think of anyone who has a mind for the wrestling busin𝓀ess and could potentially start theirꦰ own promotion. He recalled his own experience of coming up in the business before he noted that launching your own company requires vision and passion. Jarrett then tentatively named AEW World Champion MJF before he continued to think about the question.
“I think experience…at 35 years of age, I had a cumulative…I was blessed in a lot of ways. End of the territories, from 10, 11, 12 years old, whether it’s Lawler, Dundee, whoever the wrestlers, whatever it may be. I think you gotta have kind of a vision for it, but most of all, you gotta have a passion. Who would really want to do this? I think you gotta have a loose screw or two. But that really thinks through things and wants to do it...MJF. I’m literally trying to think," Jarrett said.
When Jarrett asked co-host Conrad Thompson whether he needed to name a young wrestler, Thompson noted that he could answer in a general way. Jarrett then explained that launching a company requires vision and drive, as well as the ability to eat, sleep, and breathe wrestling. He named AEW producer Sonjay Dutt as another individual, but he sta🐈ted that he'd have to spend more time thinking about the quﷺestion.
"You gotta want to do this, and you gotta kind of eat, breathe, sleep it, have a vision for creating the content. Sonjay’s got a well-rounded skill set. He’a actually been in the ring, and I’m not saying that’s the end all, be all, but an understanding of TV, an understanding of ring work, an understanding of producing. Kind of on the business side, you don’t really learn that until you dive in head-first and have some guidance. I don’t know, man. That’s a good question," he said.
Adam Cole recently recalled meeting MJF early in his career and thinking he was remarkably talented. Check out his comments here.
MJF will compete on the July 12 episode of AEW Dynamite. Check out the card here. Fightful will have coverage o💮f the show as it airs.
