WWE announced that The Honky Tonk Man will be inducted into the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame.ꦯ The news was . The Honky Tonk Man is the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time, holding the title for 454 days in a single reign. He won the title from  Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat on the June 13, 1987 episode of Superstars before losing it to The Ultimate Warrior at SummerSlam 1988.

By hook or by crook, The Honky Tonk Man held onto the Intercontinental Championship for nearly 13 months before his reign ended in lightning-quick fashion at the hands of Ultimate Warrior at SummerSlam 1988. His record-breaking 454 days as Intercontinental ♒Champion is a feat that has stood the test of time, as no Superstar has come close to eclipsing his unprecedented championship reign.

H🅠onky Tonk Man made his televised WWE debut on the September 28, 1986 episode of Wrestling Challenge, defeating Terry Gibbs. He last wrestled for the company at Cyber Sunday 2008, defeating Santino Marella by DQ. 

The 2019 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is schedu⛄led for Saturday, April 6, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
