Shane Helms Talks Wrestlers On Social Media

Shane Helms says some social🌱 media activity can contradict on-screen characters﷽.

On , Helms was asked by host Sean Ross Sapp about wrestlers posting on social media platforms and the affect it can have on the perception of their on-screen 🌼characters. The questions was inspired by a picture with the villainous The Revival. While, Helms did not say if that particular example was harmful, he said wrestlers should be conscious about how their social media presence impacts their job as wrestlers.

Gunther: I Have To Figure Out How To Deal With Losses, Damian Priest Can't Relate Because He Loses More Than I Do

"It's a case by case basis. I think you should use it to match your gimmick a little bit, your character, and the stuff you're doing. I see a lot more from Indy characters. They just have this attention whore mentality, like 'I want people to like me, I want more followers on twitter.' Twitter doesn't pay you, twitter isn't where you're going to make your money. If you're a heel, then I  definitely could see that old school mentality. It's going to be hard to get people to boo you, then on social media you're begging people to like you. There is going to be a disconnect there. And especially if it's not something you don't have to do, you do not have to post that shit, " said Helms.

Helms gave an example of one wrestler who he has trouble buying into on television because of 💎what he sees on socialꦇ media.

"I𒆙 think Titus O'Neil is a great example. You see on social media that he deserves a Nobel peace𝓡 prize or something for how good of a person he is, No matter what he does on T.V. I can't hate him," said Helms.

He also gave examples of people he thinks uses social media correctly like Chris Jericho and Matt Hardy. He said it is hard for him personally because his character on Impact Wrestling is much different than The Hurricane who is seen on independent shows. Also in the podcast, Helms discussed the events of Wrestlemania 33, his appearances during Wrestlemania week, and The Undertaker's retirement.
