HYAN talks about working with♛ Mickie James du🅺ring the RevPro anniversary event in 2023.
HYAN has been fortunate enough to work with Mickie James on two occasions, exactly one year apart from each other🌌. The first time they worked together was during an IMPACT taping, where James defeated HYAN in less than 3 minutes. However, both women were in a 3-Way for the RevPro Undisputed British Women's Title a the RevPro Anniversary show in August 2023, where Alex Windsor defended the championship successfully against both of them.
In a new interview with Fightful's Scott Edwards, HYAN recalled working with James and cꦆonsidering her to be the Ric Flair of women's wrestling.
"I was like marking out for Mickie. I even told her after the match, ‘I’m so happy I got to wrestle you.’ I see Trish and Lita as like Rock and Stone Cold. I see Mickie James as like Ric Flair," she said. "To me, it was such an honor to be in the ring with her. When I walk into these big match situations, I do get nerves, but I try to tell myself to soak it in. When you’re just ‘go, go, go,’ you don’t get to really make that memory because you’re focused on what is in front of you. I just try to tell myself and give myself a second of ‘have fun. You might not get to do this again, so soak it up.’ When I do that, the nerves melt away and it was such a great experience."
HYAN also joked that the fans repeatedly chanting "H꧙ardcore Country" liveꦡd in her nightmares.
"They lived in my nightmares [laughs]. The monotone, non-stop, ‘Hardcore Country’ chants were a thing to remember. Multiple people have told me, ‘I watched your match, I have Hardcore Country stuck in my head.’"
HYAN most recently wrestled G💛iula in a losing effort in a match for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship at🎉 NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed on October 28.
