Exclusive: Pentagon Jr. Talks Impact-Lucha Underground Relationship

One of the more unique events to take place in wrestling this year was the Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground event🍰 that on April 6 and the partnership between the two promotions is something that will benefit wrestling, according to Pentagon ♏Jr.

The Lucha Underground star will wrestle Austin Aries and Fenix for Aries' Impact World Championship at the Redemption pay𝐆-per-view on April 22. The show will feature several Lucha Underground stars in what is slowly blossoming into a fruitful partnership for both promotions. Pentagon Jr. said the idea of promotions working with each other, such as Impact and Lucha Underground, only helps the wrestling indust🉐ry progress.

"Without a doubt, this type of relationship is great for everyone involved in wrestling in Mexico, the United States and all over the world. That way, we can have companies showcase various talents on other promotions and I think the big winners out of these kinds of unique partnerships are the fans," Pentagon Jr. said.

The idea of Lucha Underground stars wrestling for another televised promotion in the United States once seemed like a bizarre concept. When Lucha Underground was first created, the show's wrestlers signed contra💯cts that would prevent them from wrestling on any other company that was also televised in the United States. In recent months, Lucha Underground has been more open to allowing wrestlers compete elsewherওe and Pentagon Jr. said he was very surprised that the show let he and others take that step.

"Yes [I was surprised at the change] and honestly, I think it's something that benefit us greatly. Now what's left is for us to take advantage of those opportunities and wrestle all over. I'm very happy with how things have turn out. Lucha Underground is a great project that has opened many doors for us to go out there and it is a matter of getting those opportunities. The truth of the matter is, I don't really know how to explain how it happened. What happened was that Lucha Underground simply notified us that they were going to relax a little bit on the exclusivity deal. I tell you, that's been a great thing that has helped us," Pentagon Jr. said.

Pentagon Jr.'s focus now is to win the Impact World Championship at Redemption, but he did take time to complimeℱnt Impact's roster of wrestlers and entertained the idea of wrestling some of them. Pentagon Jr. said he hopes to win the Impact title and show the world why he's the best wrestler in the world.

"Honestly, Impact has a very complete roster starting with guys such as Ohio Versus Everything, Sami Callahan, [Aerostar and Drago], Tommy Dreamer, Eddie Edwards. I can't name everyone on the roster but they're all very good. I came to Impact Wrestling to face the best of the best of the best because I want to show I'm the best in the world. I invite everyone to watch this pay-per-view because they're going to get a lot of surprises, see great wrestling and get the return of Pentagon Jr. on television. I'm very happy to wrestle for Impact and to fight for its world championship," Pentagon Jr. said.

Fightful will have 𒉰complete coverage of Redemption followed by a post-pay-per-view podcast featuring Fightful mana🌄ging editor Sean Ross Sapp.
