Exclusive: MGM Denies Recent Lucha Underground Reports

With recent reports surfacing regardin൩g Lucha Underground's future, MGM Television, the production company for Lucha Underground, has come🍸 out and denied those claims.

According to Dave Meltzer of the  Lucha Underground officials were looking to shop the show in the hopes networks other than the El Rey Network could finance and broadcast a fourth season. The people who put the money in for the last two seasons of the show are not putting any more in because the show drove almost no revenue. According to that same report, El Rey will pay something for programming, but not nearly enough to produce the show at close to the level it has bee♊n done at.

A representative of MGM con🌊tacted Fightful to deny the report that Lucha Underground is being shopped around for other networks to pick it up, calling the information in the reports online false.

"There are no 3rd party negotiations," the representative told Fightful.

The recent reports come a week after it was also being reported 🙈that show officials may have found a possible investor, but the mon🐬ey that would be provided per episode would likely be significantly less than the per episode budget the show previously had.

The show has been in its third season, which⛄ has been airing September 2016. There are still no current dates for any season four tapings or even an announcement that a fourth season 🔯will happen.

Some wrestlers have also recently gone on record in saying that they do not know about the show's future, with Taya Valkyrie saying in an interview, "Honestly, we are in the same posi🌱tion as all of you. We don't know what's goin💎g on. It's been a frustrating situation for all of us."

But despite the reports of the show potentially not getting a fourth season, there have been some positives for the show in the past year. El Rey Network will be airing a private showing for media and some invited fans of the final episode of this season on October 17 at L.A. Live in a 4DX theater. 4DX adds moving seats and effects like wi♒nd, water and lightning to enhance the experience of watching the show. Netflix also released the first two seasons of Lucha Underground for subscribers to watch.

The October 18 episode is set to be the season finale, as it is the fourth part of Lucha Underground's Ultima Lucha Tres. The final🍒e, headlined by Lucha Underground champion Johnny Mundo vs. Prince Puma in a title vs. career match, was announced that it will be a two-hour finale. Fightful will have live coverage of the season three finale.
