TNA Wrestling Announces No DQ Match For TNA Turning Point

Tag team wওrestling 🥀is undergoing a renaissance in modern professional wrestling. Whether it is due to AEW’s increased emphasis on tag team wrestling or the Forbidden door allowing four teams to go from one promotion to another such as FinJuice joining IMPACT Wrestling while also competing in NJPW.

Once upon a time, The Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial🥃 Tag Team Cup Tournament was the peak of tag team wrestling in the 1980s, playing host to such teams as the Road Warriors, The Midnight Express, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham and Ronnie Garvin, and more.

In re💖cen𓄧t years, the NWA has relaunched the Crockett Cup and prior to the pandemic, The Bouncers, known for their time in ROH, were in line for a spot in the tournament as they explained to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp.

Fightful: “Well, I’ll increase your market value here and remind ROH you worked NWA dates beginning of last year when the pandemic hit. How did those NWA dates come together? That sounds right around the period your negotiations period was with Ring of Honor. So was that in between something? I know you all did a World Tag Team title match with Eli Drake and James Storm. I’m very interested in how that came together for you all to work those tapings.”

Brawler Milonas: “It was the working relationship, really, that ROH had with NWA at the time. At that point it wasn’t in between. We were signed to Ring of Honor at that point. It was just because of that working relationship, those guys would come over and work for us and the opportunity presented itself to go work some dates for them. We jumped at it. We were supposed to work more. We had more coming down the pike that we were going to do with the NWA. But it just didn’t work out for a number of reasons. I loved it. That was so fantastic.”

Beer City Bruiser: “We were supposed to be in the Crockett Cup. Both of us being wrestling fans, we were so excited that we were actually going to be in the Crockett Cup, which is a psychotic tournament and we were both really excited for it. So when the pandemic shut all that down, we were really bummed. ‘Cause, man, that’s a bucket list thing, you know? Then doing the NWA stuff was so fun. It opened our eyes. It got us in front of a new audience who didn’t really know who we were. We got a lot of fans out of it. We got a relationship with the Rock ’n’ Roll Express out of it ‘cause they were our agents for a lot of the stuff we did. James Storm became a friend of ours because of that.”

Elsewhere in the interview, which was recorded prior to the news of ROH's plans to go on hiatus, The Bouncers discuss why they chose to sign exclusive deals with ROH. Read more here.
