Drew held back no words.

As a part of the 2018 WWE 'Superstar Shake-Up' gained a "Sinister Scotsman" in the form of former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre. In McIntyre's first post-match promo back on the main roster he made it clear that he was there to be on top. Alongside former two-time World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler, McIntyre spoke with a fire in his voice calling out the WWE locker room. While McIntyre elaborated on what he stated during his first post-match interview on ꧑RAW which is that the vibe that he has gotten backstage is that everyone has gone soft.

"I remember thinking, ‘Man, people are so relaxed now,’ acting like it’s not live RAW,” McIntyre said. “There’s no tension in the air. Everyone is just getting along like we’re at band camp. There are Superstars that deserve to be at the top and do give everything, but unfortunately, a vast majority wouldn’t have survived 11 years ago when I got signed." He continued, "Those who ask themselves, ‘Is he talking about me?’ Positive or negative, the answer is probably yes.”

In June of 2014 Drew McIntyre was released from WWE after seven years of being contracted to the company. McIntyre then went on to establish himself on the independent wrestling scene competing for various promotions and companies such as: ICW, TNA, EVOLVE, PWG and others which eventꩵually led to the sports-entertainment co൲mpany wanting him back. In the interview Drew shared that being released put it all together for him as he was immediately placed in a "sink or swim" situation.

“[Being released] put all the pieces together. It was sink or swim, and I swam like no other before me,” McIntyre said. “That’s what’s crazy about coming back. In NXT, when I initially become champion I went, ‘Wow, I did this as Drew Galloway, not Drew McIntyre. This is the real me.’ That’s pretty cool.”
