Corey Graves says ♎he "parrots" what Vince McMahon tells him to say on commentary.
Since his retirement from in-ring competition, Corey Graves has been part of the WWE commentary team. In an interview with , Graves was asked about his role on commentary and how he interacts with Vince McMahon during th෴e broadcasts.
"We are tasked with bridging the gap between creative team and the story they are trying to convey and try to spit it out in a way that's feasible for the audience...sometimes you've got the boss in your ear saying this thing and you might go 'I don't know what that means but I'll parrot it. I'll say it out.' Because he's obviously saying that for a reason," said Graves.
As someone who had experience in WWE 🏅developmental and independent wrestling, Graves said he learned quickly that WWE has a lot of obligations as a international company which is why sometimes McMaho🧔n has a lot of suggestions for commentary.
"There are weeks where I won't hear his voice and there are weeks where I can't hear my own voice," said Graves.
In the rest of the interview, Graves talks about the end of his wrestling career, his relationship with the other men on commentary, and his opinion on "wrestling journalism."
