Adam Cole looks back on his return to the ring.
Adam Cole has dealt with injuries throughout his time in AEW, as he suffered two concussions in 2022 before he went down with an ankle injury in 2023. The ankle injury sidelined Cole for over a year, and he returned to the ring at AEW Fright Night Dynamiꦏte on Oc🍷tober 30. There, he beat Buddy Matthews.
Speaking with 𓃲, Adam Cole reflected on his road up to this point.
"It really does encompass such a wild two years. "Getting the back-to-back concussions and then being out for nine months and not being sure if I was going to be cleared to come back, that was incredibly stressful," Cole said.
Cole then detailed how his ankle injury was much worse than initially thought, and he had to get a second surgery. ൲He noted that this recovery was more difficult than his concussion. Cole stated that he never thought about retiring from competition, as he wanted to keep doing wha🦩t he loved. He worked hard to get back to the ring, and he admitted that the moment was a combination of excitement and fear.
“It was such a combination of being so elated and so excited to be able to get back in the ring after my longest hiatus. Very excited, very grateful for that, but also so nervous. This job does require a lot whether it’s the pressure or the athleticism. But yeah, I was petrified. I was really, really nervous about getting through it, but I’m thankful that I got through it," Cole said.
Cole previously discussed potentially winning the AEW World Championship. Check out his comments here.
