A UFC Featherweight Title bout has been re-booked for UFC 231 as champion Max Holloway is going to be defending the gold against #1 Brian Ortega. The UFC confirmed an August report on Mo✤nday night.
Holloway (19-3-0) is going to be making the second defense of his championship at the event, last defending it against Jose Aldo at UFC 218. Holloway hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost five years, with that last loss coming against former two division champion Conor McGregor at UFC Fight Night 26. Holloway was the cause of the first fights cancellation, as he withdrewܫ from the encounter at UFC 226 due to concussion-like symptoms.
Ortega (14-0-0-1NC) has already earned six victories under the UFC banner, last defeating former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar by first round knockout at UFC 222. Ortega hasn’♏t had a bout go the distance in over four years and he has yet to go to a decision while competing in the UFC. Ortega is a former Resurrection Fighting Alliance Featherweight Champion, defeating Keoni 🔥Koch to win the gold at RFA 12.
UFC 231 takes place on Saturday, December 8 from the Scotiabank Arena Toronto, Ontario, Canada with Max Holloway and Bria♏n Ortega headlining. Fightful is providing live covไerage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
