Exclusive: Elias Theodorou Believes Jon Jones Used Turinabol To Transition Into Other Drugs

MMA

UFC middleweight Elias Theodorou had several things to say ab💫out Jon Jones' UFC 214 drug test failure.

Theodorou appeared on the "Holy Smokes MMA Podcast" to discuss Jones' failed drug test from the day before UFC 214. Theodorou said Jones may have used turinabol to transition into another substance and that a possible suspension wil d🍃epend on how the B sample results are.

Shavkat Rakhmonov: Ian Garry Was The Only Top UFC Welterweight Who Backed Up His Words

“From what I learned about turinabol it’s, for lack of a better word, a pre-workout on steroids. With the blood tests, and they don’t specifically test for that, the real, more important thing is the B sample. The B sample is going to come out. If that’s negative, then this whole thing’s messed up. The issue being, I think it’s a transition on what substance he’s been abusing. If you look back on the suspension that he had, that is where his body and his transformation happened at its biggest. I think, when he was suspended, he just transitioned it, allegedly, into a different, addictive substance,” Theodorou said.

This isn't Jones' first failed drug test, or even the first one in his family. Jones' two brothers, Chandler and Arthur, are NFL players who have failed drug tests in the past. Theodorou said Jon Jones may have been a product of being around the wr༒ong crowd. Theodorou said he won't have muh trouble ha✨ving to talk to his family about the matter because of the Jones' family past of failing drug tests.

“His brothers have failed for substances, so who’s Jon talking to, allegedly. It runs in the family in regards to athletics. I think that the conversation is not something that he’s not having. I think he’s talking to people and you are the accumulation of those you surround yourself with, for better or worse. Unfortunately, the worst kind of thing showed up. His other brother failed for synthetic marijuana as well, or had an allergic reaction, but for whatever reason, they test for marijuana. But the crazy thing with that substance is that it’s essentially bath salts. It’s not anything like marijuana. It’s synthetic marijuana which gave him an allergic reaction. His family has been tested for these things as well and has failed for things as well, so it’s not like it’s the first time in the Jones family [has failed drug tests]. [Jon] might get the book thrown at him and even be suspended for four years,” Theodorou said.

Jones defeated Daniel Cormier💎 to win back the UFC Light Heavyweight championship at UFC 214.ℱ Jones has not been stripped of the title as of yet as the matter is still being investigated and the B sample is still analyzed.

Andy Foster, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) Executive Director, said the whole situation surrounding Jones doesn’t make any sense to him, as Jones had reportedly passed two𝕴 separate out-of-competition drug tests issued by USADA on Jไuly 6 and July 7.

The "Holy Smokes MMA Podc𒊎ast" with "Showdown" Joe Ferraro and Fightful managing editor Sean Ross Sapp is live every Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET onigtful.com and on YouTube. Theodorou's comments can be seen in the video above.
