Despite Conor McGregor seemingly still interested i🌄n fighting Floyd Mayweather, the former boxing champion's camp is calling McGregor's bluff.
Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, told he does not see McGregor and Mayweather squaring off despite McGregor recently getting a boxing license in California.
"It's all a game," Ellerbe said. "It's all a calculated effort to gain more fans. He got a boxing license. Congratulations to him. Conor McGregor can say anything he wants to but he has a boss and his name is [UFC president] Dana White. He is under contract to the UFC and if he wanted to fight Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match he can't because his bosses wouldn't allow that to happen."
McGregor and Mayweather had been feuding through social media and on TMZ a🍌t times throughout this year, with each fighter calling the other out with the possibility that the two will fight each other, either in a boxing or MMA fight. Ellerbe gave McGregor credit for his MMA skills, but said he should drop the charades and focus on his UFC career.
"He's a very good MMA fighter, give credit where it's due," Ellerbe said. "It's kind of played out now. Just stop it. The con game is over. Go out there and worry about dominating the UFC because three fights ago he lost, he was quitting. You couldn't even mention the word quit with Floyd Mayweather."
McGregor recently vacated his UFC Featherweight title and is still the UFC Lightweight champio🍃n.
